Chlodna House in Krakow
Location: Krakow, Poland.
Date: February – August 2012 Architectural office: GreenRoom Fabryka Architektury
Usable floor area: 247 m2.
This single-family, free-standing house was designed as a modern answer to cube houses that dominates neighborhood. In order to use as much space of site, building is situated as close to the neighbor fence as the regulations allow. The cost of this decision was that this northern site can not have any windows, but this was compensated by big glazing in the south. The street frontage is dominated by glass railing and steel staircase leading to the roof terrace. Materials and colors are simple to emphasize impression of modernity
